Asphalt, as the main pavement material, has a great mount in use with the rapid development of highway construction. However, the asphalt used at pavement are mainly petroleum asphalt. Because the petroleum are unrenewable, the asphalt would probably dried up. On the other hand, as a kind of renewable resource, the biomass has the characteristics of huge reserves and wide distribution, but it is not deeply researched and widely applied in asphalt replacement. So how to make biomass modify the petroleum asphalt has important practical significance.Based on research of the modified asphalt methods and new type resin, bio oil was used to synthesize bio oil based resins including bio-oil, bio-benzoxazine and bio-epoxy resin. Those resins were characterized by several analysis methods and decided use the biobenzoxazine resin to modify asphalt.Different amounts of HMTA were added into three bio oils and view their rheological and curing behaviors during heated.Various benzoxazine resins were prepared using bio oil, phenol, amine and paraformaldehyde. Then their curing and thermostability were investigated. It was found that the optimized benzoxazine formulation was from bio oil, phenol, urea and paraformaldehyde. The curing of benzoxazine resin can shift to lower temperature under the addition of suitable amount of organic acid, and also the thermostability can be improved. The exploration of bioepoxy resin showed: directly synthesis of bioepoxy resin is not easily controlled; however the two-step method of double bond introduction and controlled oxidation was comparably ideal enough.Modified asphalts research results showed: when the mass ratio of petroleum asphalt to mixture biobenzoxazine resin was set at 2:1, the modified asphalt was found well to be optimized.
