Intelligent transportation system (ITS) is an effective way to solve the increasingly serious traffic problems. It is also the development direction of the future traffic system. The collection technology of road traffic information is one of the key technologies of ITS. VANET (Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks) is the foundation of the ITS. Vehicle informations can be collected by the RSUs deployed on the roadside. But the deployment cost of RSUs is a little high. WSN is kind of network that is made of large number of senor nodes that can monitor and collect informations of its monitoring object timely by self-organization. WSN is applied in many different research fields. In recent years, the technology application of WSN on ITS is extensively studied by scholars all over the world.Researches and discussions about a scheme which is based on the collection of WSN vehicles’information are conducted to solve problems, such as the deployment costs of RSU is high, the flexibility is low, the data of traditional collection method is singular, the detection accuracy is low and it is easily affected by the environment etc.Firstly, this thesis analyzes technologies related to WSN and the feasibility of the application of WSN on the collection of vehicles information and proposes a collection frame based on WSN vehicles information. Two communication schemes are proposed in order to solve the correspondence problems between information collection nodes and vehicles. The emphasis is put on the researches about dynamic sleep, data processing, buffer optimization, the information distribution of traffic management center, the routing policy face to the nodes association degree and specific solutions are proposed with application characteristics considered. Finally, the thesis analyzes the schemes and related solutions and the analysis results present the advantages of efficiency, low cost, strong flexibility, convenient deployment and maintenance etc.The validity of the scheme is shown through the simulation experiments of key technologies conducted on OPNET platform.
