Altimeter, a key equipment in a anti-ship cruise missile system, participates in the whole missile’s work. It controls the height of the fly in the sea, and also completes the terrain matching. However, the performance of the terrain matching system depends largely on the height measurement precision of altimeter and the terrain tracking performance. In order to meet the demand of subsequent terrain matching technology, this paper combined the pulse compression technology, DBS(Doppler beam sharpening) technique and the interference measurement technology with the traditional altimeter altimetry technology, then a new height measuring algorithm named interference Doppler came into being. The interference Doppler algorithm improves the measurement accuracy and the azimuth resolution, and it also provides orientation parameters band echo point. The Doppler interference algorithm can be measured by multiple indicator such as resolution ratio, it changes the single description form with height accuracy in the past, and it greatly improves the matching accuracy and efficiency in complex terrain topography.In this paper, the content is arranged as follows:First, This paper introduces the development of altimeter, and gives the development trend of the radar altimeter.Second, This paper introduces the application of pulse compression technology in altimeter, also discusses the methods to improve the distance measuring resolution ratio and the precision of altimeter, including the theoretical basis of the linear frequency modulation compression, the implementation method and the simulation results of the digital pulse compression matched filtering, and the implementation method of linear frequency modulation dechirp.Third, this paper discusses the application of DBS technology in altimeter, introduces the theoretical basis and the signal process method of DBS, it also provides the simulation results on both flat and rough terrain, which shows that the DBS can reduce the altimeter’s echo area per unit to improve the location measuring resolution ratio.Fourth, this paper introduces the application of interference measuring technology in pulse altimeter. Based on the interference measurement and phase solution theory, it discusses the method of getting echo location with the auxiliary antenna to detect the echo phase difference in altimeter, which can identify the location of the highest echo around the projectile side.Final, this paper explains the design of the system block diagram in the interference Doppler altimeter, and gives more details about the system working process and the Doppler interference measurement algorithm. As a result, the simulation software of altimeter echo Doppler interference comes into being.
