Design And Development Of Transmission Line Inspection System Based On GPS

Transmission line is an important part of power system, which establishes electrical connections from power stations to substations, between substations, and finally to electrical equipments or clients. Periodic inspection of transmission lines is a routine work, which is aimed at mastering conditions in operation, finding out the probable defects and the hidden dangers, so as to ensure functioning in safety.The subject roots in the transmission line inspecting of State Grid Deyang Power Supply Company. Five types of problems existing in patrol inspection of transmission lines that affects quality have been analyzed. Thus, according to the development situation of transmission lines’ patrol inspection management, a research of patrol inspection system has been done and a design is been proposed. This system can realize a paperless and standard operation in the field patrols by exchanging data between PDA(hand held computers) and PC with the help of GPS(global positioning system)\GIS(geographic information system)\GPRS, as a result, heightening the quality of inspections. The paper introduces techniques that applied to the system, which have been mentioned above. The development platform is been introduced too. By analyzing the main function module and the working process, the geography database has been established, transmission line equipments have been modeling. At last, PDA, which can not only acquire datum position parameter and standard patrol inspecting, but also collect defects and detect lines etc, and PC, which can accomplish system maintenance, patrol task management, line management, transmission line defects management etc, have been designed.Partial function of the patrol inspection system of power transmission lines has been tested in the transmission lines of the State Grid Deyang Power Supply Company. It is turns out that this system functions normally and can meet daily requirements of patrol inspecting.
