The embedded system is a kind of computer system with professionalization and exigent customization developed in certain specific field based on the customer’s requirements. It is incompatible with other computer hardware and its purpose is to satisfy all evolutional demands with higher functionality and stability in this field.Tax control(FISCAL) machine is a kind of cash register with tax control, which can be classified as 2 types: one is an integrative cash register with tax control and another is an in-use machine with tax control(the way of an original collection system retrofitting with tax control device). It is the more common system of embedded program, actually applied to the fields with the issuance of similar uniform invoices, such as catering industry, Karaoke chain store and service station.Tax control(FISCAL) machine is an organic integration of two functions-commercial collection and tax control. In the early stage, the development of computer hardware was more backward so that 8-bit or 16-bit single chip microcomputer(MCU) technology was usually applied to it. But up to this day, 32-bit processor has become the leading position in this field thanks to the tremendous growth of hardware technology.For the embedded system, the application to tax control(FISCAL) machine can achieve a better stability, a higher reliability. Mass production is feasible after the finalization of design because of its single purpose. Therefore, it can be higher cost performance and lower energy consumption than PC tax-control machine, by comparison to implementation of the same function.This article discusses the design and implementation of tax control(FISCAL) machine based on the embedded ARM system. Basically, it can be divided into two parts for expatiation – hardware part and software one. The former chiefly introduces the concept towards the selection of hardware system for tax control machine and the technical parameter of main system modules. Meanwhile, an omnifaceted comparison is made to establish a comportable hardware architecture for tax control machine. The latter presents the development and implementation of this system, which particularly describes the process of functional test and performance test. In conclusion, it points out the system limitation and looks into the future orientation of tax control system.
