Automatic Radar Plotting Aid(ARPA) as a marine navigation and collision avoidance equipment plays an extremely important role in guiding navigation and collision avoidance. With the application background and development trends of domestic and international marine radar ARPA systems, this thesis researches and designs a marine radar ARPA systems with dual-processor architecture based on embedded processor and FPGA processor. The system can complete real-time acquisition of echo signal, the adjustable suppression for radar clutter signal, and the radar target tracking forecasts and real-time display. At the same time, the system has friendly interactive interface, which is convenient for operation and control, so as to realize function of navigation and collision avoidance. During the research and development of this issue, the following works are completed:1) The principle of ARPA system is introduced in detail. First introduces the various pretreatment methods and necessity of the sensor signal, then introduces the principle and method of target detection and tracking, and then introduces the automatic calculation of target parameters and the judgment and alarm of risk, finally introduces marine radar Trial Maneuver.2) The thesis discusses the general requirements and the overall design of digital marine radar ARPA system based on ARM technology combined with digital marine radar works, and analyzes two key questiones of the radar data transmission and scanning coordinate transformation in the design of the system, and gives their solutions. In addition, the thesis analyzes the overall design scheme of embedded software and divides the software system into modules.3) The research and design of ARPA algorithm are introduced in detail. The suitable algorithm is selected for ARPA system by modeling, analyzing and simulating of the radar clutter suppression algorithm. Then the signal accumulation algorithm is introduced, which can improve effectively the ratio of signal to noise, which is conducive to improving the performance of marine radar target detection. Then introduces the principle of the target tracking form and processing. Finally the better tracking ability and higher tracking accuracy of adaptive filtering algorithms is selected by simulating and comparing of the traditional filtering algorithm and filtering algorithm under polar coordinate and rectangular coordinate system.4) The design and implementation of marine radar ARPA systems are completed. The Qt/Embedded development platform for ARPA system is constructed by establishing cross-compiler environment and implementing embedded Qt application. Then combined with radar system interface design principles, the radar man-machine interface is completed. Finally focuses on the design and implementation of the radar scan display module, signal processing module and data processing module, and verified by implementing the renderings.The research and design of digital marine radar ARPA systems based on ARM technology are completed in this thesis. The results show that the system can achieve the acquisition of the echo signal in real time, clutter suppression, image display, target tracking and prediction, has a certain value in engineering.
