The Study On Landscape Design Of Urban Residential Quarter From The Perspective Of Social Dimension

As the urban residential quarter becomes more diverse and comprehensive, those problems existing in the landscape design have been also exposed. To be more specific those problems included the social stratification, living space abnormality, weak perception of residential quarter and poor environment of residential quarter. After the Industrial Revolution, the advanced technology has constantly isolated the relationship between human and human as well as human and environment. The interdependency is also becoming weaker, especially in the domain of humanity spirit. Living within tall buildings every day, these urban dwellers will suffer from physical and mental pressure in varying degrees, leading to the indifferent neighborhood relationship as well as the lost sense of identity to the landscape environment in the residential quarter. The phenomena have undermined the sustainability of urban residential landscape and thus emerged as urgent problems to be solved.By introducing the theory of social dimension, this paper has discussed the issue of social dimension in the landscape design of urban residential quarter. Starting from the theories related to social dimension, this paper has first elaborated on the relevant concepts of landscape design of urban residential quarter and the essence of social dimension. This paper has also dealt with the value expression of the social dimension in the fields of society, culture and innovation. By referring to and analyzing the theories related to the landscape design of urban residential quarter., this paper has summarized the social dimension in five aspects, namely the user need, behavior, the multi-layer value, neighborhood relationship and sense of belonging as well as the participation and sharing among the users. In conclusion, this paper has made a field survey on the problems existing in the social dimension of landscape design. Based on the analysis of those problems, this paper has also discussed the strategy for social dimension in the landscape design. It aims to reflect on the mode and meaning of human existence as well as give new impetus to the sustainable development of urban residential landscape.The research subject of this paper is the social dimension of urban residential landscape. The main purpose of this paper is to view the relationship between human and environment in the urban residential quarter from the perspective of social dimension. Besides underlining the relationship between human and human as well as human and environment, this paper has also valued the non-material research of social dimension and created a comfortable residential landscape environment. Hence, it aims to create a more meaningful environment for human life as well as turn the urban residential landscape into the ideal homeland satisfying human’s spiritual and material need..
