There are many methods to strengthen masonry structure and frame structure, but these methods are mostly used for reinforcing the damaged members. Due to the influence of reinforcement construction scope and large numbers of affected people, those methods cannot meet the current needs of the community. A new strengthening method named dispersive tube method is put out in this paper. The reinforcement object of this method is masonry structure and frame structure which can satisfy the compressive strength requirement, but is not accordance with Seismic requirements. After the building is strengthened, both its structural system and the power transmission path will be changed. Compared with the traditional strengthening methods, this method has many advantages such as small strengthening quantities, small construction influence scope, and high material utilization, low cost and so on.This paper compares traditional strengthening methods and dispersive tube methods in several aspects such as the stiffness of the structure, force of the member and strengthening cost etc. The pros and cons of each method will also be researched. In order to promote this new strengthening method, the main work and the related conclusion in this paper are as follows:(1)By replacing the wall, plate stiffness of the masonry stiffness, Stiffness generation model is established, which solves the problem that the wall/plate stiffness in concrete structure can not be calculated in PKPM, and provided the basis for future research and application;(2)In the calculation of dispersive tube, PKPM considers the spatial effect of reinforcement cylinder in another way, increasing the utilization rate of material strength;(3) Calculation steps are provided by using the method of dispersive tube to strengthen masonry structure and frame structure;(4)For multistory masonry structure, dispersive tube method improves structural lateral stiffness more greatly than the wall/plate reinforcement method. And the method can also reduce the seismic action of unreinforced member and the cost of the structure reinforcement;(5) For multilayer frame structure, dispersive tube method can be more efficient to improve structure stiffness than that of adding shear walls, and also reduce the seismic action of unreinforced member and the cost of the structure reinforcement.
