RF signal record and playback system is a latest testing instrument, which is used in many fields, such as communication, industry, aerospace and other fields. Its application in testing instrument has become a developmental trend. Performance enhancements such as higher bandwidth of spectral analysis, complicating modulation and encoding mode have become a crucial aspect of RF stream system, and those new features and performance enhancements put forward higher requirement for systematic data transmission and memory bandwidth. RF signal record and playback of the company’s existing solution adopts NI (National Instruments), so the urgent demand of the subject is seeking a solution for the storage and high-speed data transmission of Intermediate Frequency Unit.The paper conducts a study on principles of PXIe, Aurora transport protocol and characteristic of DDR3 SDRAM storage control according to issues as mentioned above. This project used PXIe bus to realize communication between the bottom module and the host computer. According to the system requirements, the project used the Xilinx FPGA to implement the scheme, and logic design was mainly PXIe protocol configuration PIO, DMA transfer mode, interrupt control and other functions. PCIe protocols transaction layer researching, interrupt control mechanism to understand, familiar with interface of PCIe Gen2 hard core as well as the underlying joint commissioning with PC are the key. This project used Aurora protocol between the Xilinx FPGA chips for communication, then we conducted high-speed serial transceiver hardware circuit test, and completed the Aurora protocol’s FPGA logic design. In High-speed storage part of RF streaming system chose DDR3 SDRAM. This project considered the system integration, designs logic of PXIe, Aurora and DDR3 are integrated in the two pieces of Xilinx FPGA chips. DDR3’s main memory control realizing is to combine the timing of the official soft core for logic design accordingly. After all the sub-modules are designed completely, we process the IF unit and PC combination debugging, the bottom unit and PC combination debugging and the RF streaming system debugging respectively.In order to verify the system performance of the high-speed data transmission and storage technology, each high-speed interface was tested separately. The final testing results are:initiating DMA read of PXIe agreement from bottom module, the transmission rate is 7.1Gb/s, the underlying written by DMA transmission rate is 12.3Gb/s, interrupt control logic trigged quickly and accurately. Aurora agreement transfer rate is 7Gb/s, DDR3 literacy rate is 2GB/s. Each interface test results consistent with the target index and achieve the expected performance. The project development process for high-speed transmission and storage technology of theory research,design logic implementation of project is correct. In this project, the high-speed transmission and storage technology has been successfully used in the RF signal record and playback system.
