Research Of "Design By Research" Architectural Creative Design Method

With globalization, information around the world and cultural exchanges are promoted. Architectural ideas and theories are emerging. What to learn and how to learn is a common topic for modernist architects. According to the phenomenon that architectural design focuses on the appearance rather than connotation, this paper studies "Design by research" architectural creation model based on the definition, connotation and characteristics, and also explains and sorts out Koolhaas’creative process with different works through illustration deduction method. Besides, it also explores architectural creation method to outline and spread "Design by research" as one of the rational architectural design patterns.Firstly, this study clarifies the scopes and characteristics on the basis of theories of architectural creation mode and defines the concept of the "Design by research", and also summarizes its content and features to get the basic framework of "Design by research".Secondly, this paper focuses on Koolhaas’ perspectives, participants, and method of study from discovering the problems to the solution of them based on Koolhaas’ metropolitan and architectural thought and his works. Through application of his study method, this study builds the deduction pattern and summarizes the "Design by research" architectural creation model.Finally, through interpretation and summary of Koolhaas’works, this paper gets the connotation of “"Design by research"” architectural creation mode based on methodology.Through study of “"Design by research"” architectural creation mode, this paper calls us to have an objective idea of “"Design by research"” and realize the weakness and propose the ways of improvement, and also guides architectures should design reasonably by the application of “"Design by research"” architectural creation mode.
