Belt conveyor is a continuous conveying equipment of bulk materials. With the rapid development of a global economic growth and industrial production, large transport volume, long-haul distance, high belt speed, high-power and intellectualized control is becoming the development aim of belt conveyor. Linear-friction belt conveyor transmits the driving force through a linear-friction between the conveyor and the conveyor belt, in order to lower maximum tension when conveyor belt is running. It is the conveyor that ensuring long-haul distance, large transport volume, high efficiency and more economical delivery without increasing the strength of conveyor belts and high-power of the drive means.The paper firstly introduces the structure character, layout forms, types and driving principle of Linear-friction belt conveyor, Then, introduces four kinds of typical working condition of Linear-friction belt conveyor, and the paper analyzes linear-friction section about the stress condition between drive belt and load belt, thus obtain bearing belt tension diagram of Linear-friction belt conveyor. Then, the paper analyzes velocity relationship with full load and non-loaded in detail. Thus, establishes the static model of linear friction parts.The system adopts the classical PID control. When the working conditions do not change, the system can be operate stably, When the working conditions or the environment change, the system can not be in the running state of the ideal. Therefore, the paper designs adaptive PID controller, which makes it to adjust to the optimal or sub optimal working state rapidly by adjusting the system.The paper builds a model of line friction belt conveyor in Simulink of MATLAB software, and writes PID program in Siemens S7-300 PLC programming software STEP7, with the help of OPC server, and then achieves between the MATLAB software and PLC communication and controller in the simulation loop.
