The impact of the impact energy absorption performance for structure, explosion and other extreme load conditions is very important to safety performance. Thin-walled structures are used widely as kinetic energy absorbers as they can significantly reduce the impact force and they are high energy absorption and weight efficient. Current understanding of cylindrical shell structure with energy absorption mechanism and deformation modes under the impact load, put forward with high energy absorption performance of the new structure form, has always been a problem concerned by scientists and engineers.For cans this common cylindrical shell in the shape of objects in everyday life has no studies and the use of precedent so far. So this topic research the cans with the characteristics of energy consumption under the condition of axial compression, using the cans with characteristics of thin-walled cylindrical shell under axial compression deformation, analysis the deformation cans mechanism of each stage, get the energy dissipation formula of all kinds of cans with the theory of the fold energy. In addition, this paper cans as a kind of damping element is applied to the adjacent building shock absorption, through the cans on the structure of the passive control, can effectively reduce the earthquake response of the adjacent buildings under seismic action.The main research work and the results of this paper are as follows:Get different sizes of empty cans of energy through compression test, using the theory of thin-walled cylindrical shell energy dissipation, calculating energy formula of empty cans and the energy for each type of empty cans, compared to the experimental results with the theoretical results, proved the correctness of the energy dissipation formula by the cans.2.Enhancing the energy of empty cans, in this paper, in the empty cans filling asphalt or sand, winding the outer wall of the cans by wire, get the energy by experiments and compared with empty cans of experimental result, contact with empty cans energy dissipation formula introduced two kinds of enhanced cans filled asphalt, sand formula of energy consumption.3.A group of adjacent building model was established based on ANSYS, under the action of seismic wave, by comparing the two cases of adjacent buildings placed cans and cans not placing in seismic response, reflecting the cans good performance of shock absorption.
