Investigation And Research On Historic Garden Of Huzhou

In order to avoid the disappearance of city’s character which may cause a situation that thousands of cities are like one city, to continue the city’s historical context and protect the city’s historical information and style, urban-rural history and heritage protection have been of great importance in the urban and rural planning. As an important historical process of human settlements, the historic garden is part of the process of urban-rural history and the foundation of the study of city’s historical context.Huzhou is an ancient city in Yangzi delta with a long history of more than 2300 years. The special city structure of the ancient city Huzhou has been protected well and Huzhou has an important cultural heritage values. The historic garden in Huzhou continues to grow because of the prosperous economy and exquisite landscape environment. The paper analyzing investigation and researchon historic garden of Huzhou adopts the research methodology which the comparison analysis, spot investigation and induction analysis. The main results are as follows:(1) In the way of document survey, the historical evolution and development of the historic garden in Huzhou before 1949 is analyzed. The evelopment and characteristics during each historical period of the historic garden in Huzhou is concluded.(2) In the way of both field investigation and document survey, the historic garden in Huzhou has been classified by the subjection relation and excellent cases from which have been analyzed particularly. The features of each type is concluded.(3) Based on the analysis of the history and investigating of remains of the historic garden in Huzhou, the regional features and relation with landscape structure is carried out. Distribution characteristic of the historic gardens and features of traditional landscape art is concluded.(4) The development of national historical and cultural city of Huzhou is reviewed, and the protection suggestion is provided for the problems of remains of the historic garden in Huzhou. It explores how to inherit and develop traditional landscape of Huzhou and finds an inspiration to regional feature of contemporary urban construction. In addition, the methods of how to inherit and develop in practice are discussed after introducing excellent real cases and preliminary practices that the author has done.
