Under the background of experience economy, experience design has become a new focus in design world and it is widely used in various fields.In this paper, we apply the experience design to interior designs of sample rooms in the real estate with the purpose of improving the quality of them. For the real estate industry, offering simple rooms is the most immediate way for customers to experience the marketing. For the target customers group, it is the best experience platform before buying houses.After the investigation of the sample rooms of major real estates in Changsha, this paper finds that there are many problems existing in the design of sample rooms including spatial distortion, excessive luxury, no practical uses and paying no attention to details. Theses all lead to the superficial appearances of samples rooms without real humanity design. Based on Maslow’s demand theory and the model of user experience elements in the general concept of user experience development raised by Jesse James Garrett, this paper proposes the interior experience design strategy of sample rooms focused on customers. This paper uses the working method of experience design in five levels:strategy, range, structure, framework and performance.This not only manages to realize the final specific performance from the abstract design concept, but also ensures a customer-oriented process with various user experience elements. In strategy level, this paper discusses how to make a balance between the expecting purpose and demands of customers for real estate industry. Besides, this paper analyzes the relevant contents of sample rooms and determines the theme of user experience. Then, in structure level, this paper mainly concerns the individuation of user experience and remains some design space for customers to join in according to the allocation and layout of interior space functions. For framework level, this paper talks about the related materials and technical supports used to meet the requirements of user experience in interior design of sample rooms. Finally, in performance level, this paper makes a sensorial design according to the senses of vision, hearing and smell of customers. The author applies this working method of experience design to the sample room interior design of Changsha European City real estate.By studying the demand of customers and ensuring a customers-oriented design process, the author completes an interior design case of simple rooms on the subject of humanity and high quality to prove the feasibility of interior experience design method of sample rooms raised in this paper.
