Nowadays, photovoltaic power generation has become one of the most potential new energy generation methods. And as the key technology of it, the maximum power point tracking(MPPT) has become a hot research area. However, most studies about MPPT control technology in photovoltaic system around the world focus on the simulation analysis and a few on hardware platforms. Researches based on simulation analysis can provide theoretical basis for the study of MPPT technology, but the control method without experimental verification is difficult to realize accurate control of the photovoltaic output power in the case of engineering application. Therefore, designing an open MPPT experimental device with flexibility and scalability to provide a hardware platform for the study of MPPT control algorithm is of great significance to promote the application of MPPT control technology in engineering.This article mainly aims at the design and research of MPPT experimental device. Firstly, the overall design scheme of MPPT experimental device was determined on the basis of the main design parameters, then models of solar panels, control circuit’s main components and DC / DC circuit topology were selected. Secondly, based on 80C196 MC microcontroller, control circuit, sampling circuit, IGBT driver circuit and reactor and the calculation of DC /DC circuit parameters were finished. Then, combined with the modularization program design idea, the designing and writing of programs of each module by WAVE6000 software programming platform were accomplished. Finally, the control strategy of MPPT was improved and analyzed combined with 80C196 MC microcontroller, and the measure experiment in the condition of a simulated step change in light intensity was done.The experiment results show that the control algorithm used in the experiment is feasible and superior, and the MPPT experimental device designed in this topic can stably operate with good performance status in the condition of dynamic, steady state and mutation of external factors.
