At the present stage, the development of Chinese wind turbine tower cleaning and wind turbine blades online detecting is not perfect, usually adopting the artificial method for wind turbine blades online detecting and wind turbine tower cleaning, but the artificial way has many disadvantages, such as long work period, high risk, low efficiency and so on. In recent years, our country wind power industry is developing rapidly, not only the wind turbine single unit capacity is increasing, but also the wind turbine installed amount has also increased, while the wind turbine maintain of our country is still on low developing level. Therefore this research aims to develop a wind turbine intelligent climbing device to replace the artificial way of wind turbine tower cleaning and wind turbine blades online detecting.First, the paper combines the research status of the climbing robot at home and abroad, understanding the advantages and disadvantages of different types climbing robots.Combined the application of climbing robots and the characteristics of the wind turbine, which leading to the wind turbine climbing system design idea and introducing the content of the paper.Secondly, the paper analyzes the wind turbine intelligent climbing device’s mechanism and function, according to the practical requirements of the wind turbine intelligent climbing device’s mechanism can be divided into three parts: power execution part, control part and testing part. According to the wind turbine intelligent climbing system adopts flexible connection way, three parts of the wind turbine intelligent climbing device’s function have been set.Third, control part of the wind turbine intelligent climbing device based on STC12C5A16 AD micro controller has been designed the hardware module: drive motor module, tightening motor module and sensor module, and created software programming by C programming language.Finally, implement the relevant experiments about the wind turbine intelligent climbing, which according to the shape similar of our campus parachute tower and wind turbine tower. The experiment in the process of testing proved the wind turbine intelligent climbing device is feasible, and obtains the key parameters and performance of the wind turbine intelligent climbing device. The experiment proves that the wind turbine intelligent climbing device’s parameters meet the design requirements, which can be applied to practice.
