With the gradually increasing application of the technology of separated face slabs in CFRD, the advantages of this technology attracted more and more attention from researchers and designers of CFRD. This paper uses the commercial finite element program ABAQUS respectively to calculate the stresses and strains of separated face slabs in full storage period to make up for the theoretical basis of separated face slabs technology and make it can be used in a wider range. And in the process to complete the following main aspects of work:(1) This research reveals the effects of different simulation pattern of dam construction process to using Goodman element and Desai element to simulate the contact surfaces between face slabs and cushion which shows that the simulation pattern of dam construction process has a greater impact to the accuracy of Goodman element.(2) After comparing of calculation the stresses and strains of separated face slabs and continuous face slab in the CFRD in full storage period, This paper holds that the application of separated face slabs technology can improve the distribution of the stress in face slab in full storage period and improve the deformation adaptability of slabs to the rockfill.(3) After comparing of the effects of different lengths along the slope direction of separated face slabs and different width of horizontal joints to results of the stresses and strains of separated face slabs in the CFRD in full storage period, This research holds that the shorter length along the slope direction of separated face slabs could reduce the peak of stresses and strains of separated face slabs in full storage period and different width of horizontal joints have no great effect on the whole calculation of separated face slabs.
