Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) is widely used in the substations because of compact structure, small area, long maintenance cycle, safe and stable operation, high reliability, unlimited environmental weather conditions, etc. With the growing running time of GIS equipment, it fails more. The GIS equipment failure is mainly reflected in the insulation defects, so the research on the insulation defects of GIS equipment is significant. This paper studies the partial discharge modeling techniques of the intelligent GIS real platform.First, designing and building the real platform of the intelligent GIS main state parameters, including circuit breakers, isolating switch, current transformers, voltage transformers, grounding switch, bus bar chamber, surge arresters and other equipment. And designing four typical partial discharge models for detecting the common failure defects of high voltage GIS equipment in operation, including:spiked discharge model, suspended discharge model, freedom of metal particles discharge model, insulators along the surface of the metal particles discharge model. The advantage of the partial discharge models which are fixed with two semi-circular magnets pull mode is easy installation and removal. Then, studying the process and characteristics of partial discharge models in the intelligent GIS real platform with the step-increased voltage method, and detected with conventional pulse current law and UHF method to get the discharge trends, scatter plots and histograms of the feature quantity. We studied the discharge characteristics of partial discharge model under different voltage level. And we studied the relationship between the discharge capacity and applied voltage of different discharge models. To provide a certain basis for the PD GIS device simulation technology and the guidance to the field of partial discharge test. Ultimately, to meet the demand of intelligent GIS detection system, the paper developed the partial discharge models with required starting discharge voltage, discharge capacity and lifetime.
