In the area of anti-galloping measures on power transmission lines, the rotary clamp conductor spacer (RCS), as a new anti-galloping device, is used gradually widely, the anti-galloping effect of which is more and more widely concerned. This article, takes the actual Gansu 330kV two-bundled conductors transmission lines as a simulation example. And then the galloping response displacements under different installation schemes of RSC were calculated by MATLAB software. The results show that the installation scheme of RCS which has the best anti-galloping effect is the one, under which the sub-span increases from both ends to the middle of the span. After that the response displacements of dancing under different meteorological conditions with the RCS installed on transmission line were simulated.Since the installation position of RCS will affect the anti-galloping effect, therefore, there is a problem of how to decide the optimized installation location of RCS, which has the best anti-galloping effect. With the crosswind response displacement of dancing as the objective function, the RCS installation position as the control variables, the optimized RCS installation location was calculated through iterative algorithm. The calculation result was in accord with the installation scheme which was generally used in engineering.RCS, due to its special characteristic in the structure,so the three-freedom-degree model (two-bundled conductors) is extended to four-freedom-degree model, and then the corresponding dynamic equations were established by Lagrange method. After that, the response displacement of dancing under there two models in the same meteorological conditions and wire parameters were calculated. The results show that the response displacement of dancing is slightly different by comparison with the one under three-degree-freedom model, With the rapid development of UHV transmission lines, the application area of RCS in the six-bundled conductors is not that large, therefore, combining with±800kV TIAN-ZHONG-Line, the anti-galloping effect of RCS installed in UHV transmission lines was calculated, based on which, the anti-galloping effect of RCS under DC and AC transmission lines in the same meteorological condition was compared.
