China is one of country with frequent transmission line galloping, while spacers act as the essential protective fittings on bundled conductors which not only play a supporting role, but also have an important effect on conductors’anti-galloping. Previous research mainly focused on the the galloping mechanism and the anti-galloping effect of typical anti-galloping armour clamp, while transmission line spacers are affected by many factors, such as the type of spacer, number and installation location, there is few research on its anti-galloping effect evaluation method. This paper firstly describes the necessity of transmission line modal analysis, and then analysis the line-spacer system model by using the finite element software, obtained the first few orders modal shape and natural frequency, mainly researched the modal shape graph which play a decisive role in galloping; then derived iced line equipped with spacer anti-galloping motion differential equations by using the Lagrange equation, calculated the time response of transmission line galloping with different installation location and different spacer types, mainly researched the effect of clamp installation and spacers location on galloping; then proceed high damping spacer from the point of energy, introduced its structure and mechanism, and mainly researched its anti-galloping effect and applications; finally, on the basis of objectively analyzing the transmission line galloping influencing factors, proposed the transmission line-spacer system fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method based on the measured data, analyzed the impact of various factors on the galloping, combined with specific examples assessed the anti-galloping effect of line-spacer, and based on the assessment results obtained the impact of sub-line torsion angle change rate on the anti-galloping.
