Several astro observation studies show that dark matter and dark energy are the main compositions in universe. The explanation for dark matter particles beyond the standard model, which may be the breakthrough of the revolutionary of the modern physics. As being one of the most influential front problem, the study of dark matter is widely drawn attention around world, and many countries actively participate in space observation of dark matter projects, such as ATIC, PAMELA, AMS etc. Our country has initialized advanced project of DAMPE(dark matter particles explorer)which is devoted to research this problem. The development of DAMllPE, which is for measuring the spectrum of high energetic electrons, gamma, and heavy ions in the energy region from 5GeV to 10 TeV, divided into three stages: electrical phase,prototype phase and flight model phase. The PSD(plastic scintillator detector array)as important part of the payload of DAMPE, assisted BGO calorimeter identify electron and gamma. Meanwhile, PSD as backup of silicon array detector, detects heavy ions that charge number at the range of 1~20.This thesis mainly introduces the development and related test work of PSD for electrical phase. Electrical PSD adopts perpendicular structure with two layers, and each layer consist of 15 scintillator counters with the size of 340×20×10mm3. The PSD adopt r4443mod2 PMT(photomultiplier tube) by HAMAMATSU as readout device. The attenuation length of a batch of plastic scintillator counters is tested to know the performance of counters, and PMT adopts readout methods with double dynodes to realize the measurement of large dynamic range of signal. After the development of PSD, we have the detector cosmic ray test alone, desktop of joint commissioning and beam test to know every work parameter such as MIPs response of all of scintillator counters. Test results show that the detector works well, and the performance indicators of PSD meet the design requirements.The work of electrical phase understands the work parameters and performance of indicators through the detailed test, which provide work valuable experience for the work of prototype phase and flight model phase.
