Along with national economy of China continues to improve and the rapid development of cities, the construction of infrastructure is also accelerating. The cross sea bridge, city viaduct, High-speed Rail and super high-rise projects more and more use the pile foundation. However, in some engineering pile foundation will bear the horizontal force, such as in the earthquake, the pile will bear the horizontal load,in bridge engineering, the pier will withstand the occasional ship impact,in port engineering, pile foundation will subject to horizontal force wave generated,in deep foundation engineering, pile foundation will subject to horizontal force pile produce, in the upper arch structure, pile foundation will bear the horizontal force caused by the effect of arch. At this time, if the horizontal bearing capacity of pile foundation is insufficient. It will easily lead to engineering accident. Horizontal bearing capacity of piles is also a controlling factor of pile foundation design.This paper is based on an upper part of arch structure engineering example.This paper will use the finite element software ANSYS to simulate the bearing capacity of short rigid pile under horizontal load. It will compare the results with the single pile horizontal static load to test results, verify the accuracy of finite element simulation and find out the various factors affecting the horizontal bearing capacity of single pile. And then through the finite element software ANSYS to establish the finite element model, to simulate the law of single pile displacement and bending moment along the body change of the pile in different factors (such as different horizontal load, pile length, pile diameter, elastic modulus of pile, elastic modulus, Poisson ratio of soil, soil cohesion, friction angle, the vertical load). It will find out the main factors affecting the horizontal bearing capacity of single pile. And then it will analyze short rigid pile bearing performance and whether there will be change, if change the size, the ratio of length to width, thickness, depth of pile caps. Finally, this paper will simulate the working performance of pile group under horizontal load, and then establish the load-displacement curve of pile groups. It will analyze the influence of the pile length, pile diameter, elastic modulus, Poisson’s ratio, the vertical load of soil, soil friction angle, soil cohesion and group pile distance on the horizontal bearing capacity of pile group, and conclude the main influence factors, then put forward some useful suggestions to engineering practice.
