With the rapid development of the national economy, the requirements of the rail capacity continues to increase. The heavy haul transportation has become the focus development direction of China railway freight transportation. Heavy haul transportation not only improve the efficiency of railway transportation, but also makes the large railway loading system which is mainly composed of the indexer and car damper. As an important part of car dumper system, the indexer is a device to pull and park the train to the specified position accurately, it has a strong affects on the dumping efficiency and manufacturing cost of the car dumper directly. If the indexer design load is too large, it will greatly increase the production cost. Otherwise the too small design load will not meet the demand of car dumper efficiency. With the increase of train traction tonnage, index power increases obviously. And the vehicle draft gear deformation is very significant in the process of moving the vehicles. These will produce the vibration in longitudinal direction and plus the draft gear strong nonlinear. So the dynamic load design of the indexer becomes very complicated. So far, the biggest domestic indexer only used for 10000 tons train, 40000 tons train indexer exported to Australia challenge dynamic load design. The simulation model for indexer dynamic load is established based on the train longitudinal dynamics theory. In the model the important factors of the strong nonlinear characteristics of draft gear, coupler slack effect, the vehicle starting and running resistance are considered, and indexer dynamic load simulation system is developed. The test of indexer pulling 5000 tons train and the three tests of indexer pulling 10000 tons train are introduced. As the process of pulling the train proceeds, index power reduces obviously. Using indexer dynamic load simulation system, emulation on corresponding conditions of indexer pulling 5000 tons train and 10000 tons train are given. And the simulation results are compared with experimental results, which verified the validity of the model. The simulation on index load of 20000 tons and 40000 tons train are given. The indexer maximum loads are 1095 kN and 1679 kN. The indexer maximum power reduces with the times of pulling trains increases(the number of heavy trains reduces), when 40000 tons train runs by the velocity curve offered by the factory. Through the analysis of various parameters on the impact of the 40000 tons train indexer load, the optimization to the speed curve of the indexer exported to Australia was done. The optimization scheme ensured dumping efficiency and train moving distance. The dumping efficiency increased by 33.9%. This dynamic simulation system provides a new tools for heavy haul indexer load design.
