Relay protection device as an integral important part of power system is the important guarantee of reliable and safe operation of the grid and the correct use of the rational allocation of protection is very important work. That relay protection must meet the basic requirement of reliability, selectivity, sensitivity, and mobility requirements, namely "four" characteristics, makes sure to give full play to the function of relay protection device. But selectivity, sensitivity, and mobility are mainly decided by whether the protection setting correct and reasonable or not besides reliability needs rely on the device itself. So which power grid setting calculation of relay protection device setting is well done is a necessary condition to ensure the safe operation of the power system.In this paper, the relay protection setting calculation system and integration of research and application was summarized. Firstly, relay protection stand-alone software shortcomings were analyzed in detail besides its demand for integrated software, and the present situation at home and abroad were studied also. On the basis of this puts forward the overall design scheme of setting calculation system and integration. The vertical and horizontal integration through setting calculation work, mobilizing Chinese province of Ningxia power Grid integration of applications, the primary and backup equipment tune tune data synchronization, networked collaborative graphics power, as well as quick fix when branch overhaul needed be reparied came true by the same integration setting calculation system fault calculation algorithm, branch coefficient calculation algorithm, setting calculation algorithm. At the same time, which electric power real-time digital simulation system(RTDS) was used to setting calculation system modeling, the accuracy of the short-circuit calculations were verified. The results show that the system had good engineering practice value.
