Currently, the metro transit system has been developed rapidly and a highly efficient heating, ventilating and air conditioning(HVAC) system plays essential roles in the metro system since the HVAC is the largest energy consumption part for any metro system. So that it is a key approach to reduce the energy consumption that adopting a prudent HVAC system with reasonable and practical operation strategies.Taking San Yuan Li station as an example here, this paper presents that the consistence of the HVAC system, feature characters and energy consumption ration for a metro station. the station control system composition, features and energy consumption ration will be analyzed and it confirm that the major ventilation and air conditioning system(one part of the HVAC system) will be focal point from energy-saving perspective. This paper emphasizes the theories and influences of the system.Firstly, this paper applies theoretical analysis and quantitative and qualitative techniques to entire study. The features of ventilation and air conditioning load for a metro station was evaluated, including the equipment load(19%), palisade structure heat load(29%), traffic load(14%)and fresh air load(38%). The result shows that both traffic load and fresh air load are the main factors of station ventilation and air conditioning system.Furthermore, based on former study, the coming study focuses on the relativity energy-saving operation system strategies. By controlling fresh air load in the system, evaluating the real energy-saving ration and efficiency. For example, in non-rush hours, the average ratio is 26.2%. By inverter control, analyzing the energy-saving rate of all major pieces of equipment in the station system. The results show that the whole system energy-cost with variable frequency is only 65.4% of normal system, which the ratio of saving is 34.6%. By debugging in real time, comparing and conducting the feasibility of energy-saving of the energy-saving control strategy and the saving-effect of the new equipment. The outcome indicates that better way and strategy is that adjusting the wind load before water load, which is also stable and easy to control during the operation. By using variable modular air duct, air resistance can be reduced by about 100 Pa.Finally, after several onsite commissions and tests during the November 15, 2014 to December 15, 2014, experimentalizing and verifying the energy-saving effect of variable air duct combined air conditioner itself as well as energy-saving effect on the main equipment of the station big system by using energy-saving control strategy on out of air conditioning seasons. During the operation time(from 15 TH Oct to 10 TH Dec)the station system can save power about 7217.5KWh.
