With the development of economy and increasing of distribution load, regional groups of high density power supply load are gradually formed. A large amount of non-linear loads in operation will produce much harmonic to power grid, which leads the system voltage and current waveform occurring distortion. In addition, three-phase voltage unbalance and the voltage fluctuation and flicker problem, seriously the system frequency fluctuations will be caused, damaging to the power quality of power system. At the same time, the popularity of many complex, high precision, sensitive electrical equipment for power supply quality makes the requirement of power quality become higher and higher. Therefore, it is necessary to deeply understand and master the power quality status of typical load in high density power supply area, to improve the quality of power supply and the safety and reliability of power grid.In this paper, the classification of common loads in high density power supply area is done, the power characteristics, impact properties and harmonic characteristics of typical loads are analyzed, what’s more, the models corresponding to every feature of loads are studied. On this basis, combined with the practical situation of Xiaoshan high density power supply area, the power quality monitoring points of typical loads are chosen and determined. And the actual operational electric datas of every monitoring point are collected by the power quality analyzer. Then the power quality and electric operational characteristic of urban intelligent distribution network of high density power supply area are analyzed. Finally, the power quality comprehensive evaluation of typical loads monitoring points of xiaoshan high density power supply area is done. Based on the compensation characteristic of flexible distribution equipment, the corresponding flexible measures aiming at solving the power quality problems of typical load points are put forward, which procides a decision-making basis for the power quality problem solving of Xiaoshan high density area, and is helpful for the supply department to know the status of whole grid power and make better running plan.
