At present, problems of energy crisis and environment pollution caused by the using of traditional energy are attracting more and more attention. Development and utilization of renewable clean energy is an important way to solve these problems. With the advantages of abundant in reserves, weakly affected by the weather and high in energy density, marine current energy utilization technology is becoming a research hotspot at home and abroad, achieving rapid development in recent years. Previous laboratory research has an important significance in the further popularization and industrially application of marine current energy utilization technology. Based on the consideration of making convenience for experiment and reducing the cost of test, a turbine emulation system was designed and tested, and theoretical analysis and simulation study on load characteristics were carried out.The first chapter concluded the research progress of marine current energy devices at domestic and overseas, especially the research status of turbine emulation devices. Based on that, the research content and significance of this paper was put forward.The second chapter introduced the overall structure of marine current energy device, and studied the characteristics of the turbine theoretically. The stress situation of the blade was analyzed on the micro level, and the energy capturing characteristics of turbine were studied on the macro level. In addition, the structure of the turbine load was introduced, focusing on the research of battery charging method and its control process. The stepwise charging strategy of battery was designed.The concrete design of the turbine emulation system was carried out in the third chapter, including component selection, electrical wiring diagram drawing and software design and so on. The software design included the design of display program in the upper computer based on Lab VIEW and the compiling of control program in the lower computer based on PLC.The fourth chapter conducted simulation research on the load characteristics of the turbine. The load model was built in MATLAB/Simulink, after which the turbine load was analyzed respectively in the situation of constant velocity and the actual velocity.The fifth chapter made an experimental study on the turbine emulation device.The practical turbine emulation system was introduced at large. The hydraulic transmission system and electrical load added to the experiments were illustrated too. Experiments were carried out under step velocity, sinusoidal velocity and real velocity respectively, in order to test the output characteristics of the turbine emulation device. Research on the influence of changing load resistance to the emulation device was also conducted. The experimental results show that the designed turbine emulation device can simulate the theoretical value effectively.In the sixth chapter, the work of this thesis was summarized, and further research direction was put forward.
