Energy sustainable development is the dilemma faced by the world today. In recent years, tidal power as a new renewable energy, has a rapid development and a more mature technology with its huge advantages like abundant resource and environmentally friendly. In this new type mechanics which use tidal kinetic energy, blades as the horizontal axis marine current turbine's (HAMCT) first energy conversion link, switch water's kinetic energy into mechanical energy. Its performance will directly decide the efficiency of the whole mechanics. At present, the horizontal axis marine current turbine (HAMCT) most refers to wind turbine and propeller theory. This paper analyses the design principle of the blade element and the whole optimization through the theoretical analysis, software simulation experiments. This paper main works are as follows:1. Discuss the background and history of the horizontal axis marine current turbine(HAMCT); introduce the development status of marine turbine technology, especially the blades in China and foreign countries;2. Analysis basic principle and optimization of blade design associated with wind turbine and propeller technology, investigate the relationship and difference among the blade element momentum theory, Glaurt and Wilson method; write the optimization program using Matlab to get the maximum efficiency Cp;3. Research on the airfoil using CFD software, investigate the lift/drag ratio and pressure under a variety of media and shape;4. Design a model blade shape of 10W HAMCT, simulated using Bladed software to prove the validity of the design;5. Design and modal analysis the blade of 60kW HAMCT and according to the assignment of the lab.The design of the blade in this paper is proved to be effective after simulation and experiment, laying the foundation of deep research into key technologies of horizontal axis marine turbine.
