The shells are a crucial component part of the button lithium batteries which combine constitutive property with functionality into one, the quality of them directly affects the storage, safety and charge-discharge properties of batteries, in the meantime, the appearance quality is also influenced. 304 and 430 stainless steels are widely used as the shells of the mid-and-low-end button lithium batteries, however,the shells of high-end button lithium batteries which can create higher value need430 stainless steel single plated nickel material, it has the high properties of stamping,rub resistance, corrosion resistance, soldering and electrical conductivity. The production process of it is monopolized by foreign countries, until now our country can’t master it. In order to explore the preparative techniques of 430 stainless steel single nickel plated steel strips which can satisfy the requirements of high-end button lithium batteries for the shells, this paper firstly prepares different 430 stainless steel single nickel plated materials through the technologies of electrodeposition, rapid thermal diffusion(RTD) and surface nanocrtstallization, then represents the relevant properties of this material and the battery shells made by it.The major studies are as follows:(1) This paper explores the diffusing situation of the plating and base material under different heat diffusion treatments, observes and tests the cross-sectional samples through metalloscope, SEM and EDS, etc. The results show that the most suitable treatment process for the rapid thermal diffusion of430 stainless steel single nickel electrodeposition plating material is to keep the temperature at 950℃ for 30 s.(2) This paper also studies the effect of surface nanocrystallization on the material performance after heat diffusion treatment. It represents three kinds of samples, which are possessed by keeping temperature at 950℃ for 30 s, no heat diffusion treatment, and surface nanocrystallizatio after heat diffusion treatment respectively. It turned out that the last kind of sample is the best, small surface roughness, middle yield ratio and rigidity.(3) This paper tests the corrosion resistance of the material under different technologies. The salt spray test of steel strips processed by surface nanocrystallizatio after heat diffusion treatment works best, under such technology, the scale rate of batteries assembled by the material is only 2%,which is the lowest rate among three technologies.In conclusion, through the surface nanocrystallization after heat diffusion treatment which is keeping the temperature at 950℃for 30 s, 430 stainless steel single eletroplating nickel plating steel strips has the best comprehensive performance, high production efficiency, and steady quality. It also meets the requirements of high-end button lithium batteries for the shells and industrialization.
