The Cultural Connotation Of Plants And Its Application In Landscape Construction

Based on understanding the various aspects of research processes and results which are ancient and modern, domestic and foreign of the relevant plant cultural connotation, this paper explains and summarizes the various cultural connotation concepts and expression of it from several aspects such as the homophonic plant name, posture, color, smell, sound, ecological habits, living environment, the Geomantic Culture of plant combination and different patterns of plant collocation. In addition, it has a further discussion about the derivative cultural connotation of different plants by analyzing the relationship of plant culture, farming, religion, folk custom and Scholar-bureaucrat spirit.Selecting different representative gardens and dwellings in Beijing to visit and investigate including the Summer Palace, Prince Gong Mansion, botanical garden, traditional residences of celebrities, new and old residential area. This article summarizes the use of garden plants and the actual situation of its cultural reflection in Beijing from several aspects of individual plant, plant combination, and the derived and spiritual culture of plant, and then understands how the plant culture to be expressed in modern Cultural Construction of Garden activities appropriately to promote the development of modern landscape architecture with unique cultural spirits.In addition, it also applies the plantscape design of Beijing courtyard project in Zhuozhou, Hebei Province, which is developed latterly by generalizing the application ways of plant culture from garden investigation as well as provides the case support for the follow-up studies about which how to apply plant culture to garden construction sufficiently in future.Finally, it explores the relevant suggestions and improving measures for specific application of plant cultural connotation in gardens and dwellings, such as excavating more kinds of green space pattern in which the plant culture can be used, inheritance and innovation of plant culture and the application of plant cultural connotation in modern landscape architecture construction to meet the improvement of plant cultural appreciation from the public, as well as hopes that it will be helpful for producing a motivational role of plant culture in modern Cultural Construction of Garden activities.
