With the improvement of bridge construction level in our country,more and more new process,new technology,new material are used in bridge construction,it makes long-span bridge sprung up.To ensure the safety of the bridge operation,we must to monitor the situation of the bridge deformation long term.The traditional deformation monitoring tools are acceleration, hydrostatic leveling, laser interferometer, precse level, total station, etc at prent, these methods have some effect but also has many disadvantages.With the development of science of surveying and mapping geographic information science, especially the development of satellite positioning technology, that the sampling frequency of the satellite receiver has reached10-20hz and position precision can reach millimeter level, which makes the satellite positioning technology to be applied to the bridge deformation monitoring is possible;GIS (Geographic Information System, GIS) of its powerful spatial data management and display capabilities, provides a means for monitoring Bridges visualization. As a result, the satellite positioning system and GIS technology which applied to the bridge deformation monitoring is a hotspot of research on engineering problems.The GPS applied to the bridge deformation monitoring has become so common at present,and our country’s independent satellite navigation system-the Beidou navigation system has also carried on in the field of deformation monitoring for exploratory application and experiment.This paper describes the principle of deformation monitoring,the principle of BeiDou/GPS system,the spatial data management and display function of GIS and apply the BeiDou/GPS and GIS technology to the bridge deformation monitoring.the main research achievements include the following aspects.1.Designing the bridge deformation monitoring system which based on Beidou/GPS and GIS.2. Researching the Transformation of BeiDou/GPS and GIS coordinates. 3. Take Amojiang river bridge for example which located on Yuanmo highway and applicate bridge deformation monitoring system which based on BeiDou/GPS and GIS on it.the precision of which meet the accuracy requirements through analysis the monitoring data. The warning threshold of deflection on bridge are determined, the visualization of bridge. warning is realized.By monitoring data collection, transmission, analysis processing, the data precision meet the requirements, which confirmed the bridge deformation monitoring based on BDS/GPS system and GIS is feasible, and it laid the foundation for the further wide-spread use.
