Since the science, technology and the level of information improved, thescale of China’s power grid systems are constantly improving and expanding, thesize of the grid brings the reliability requirements issue directly to the powersystem, so the grid development is faced with new problems and challenges. Inrecent years, IEC61850based substations in our country develop rapidly, butsuitable networking studies for its reliability is not enough.In order to improve operational efficiency and reliability of IEC61850based substation, the paper research on the networking technology, simulationmethods, reliability analysis and reliable ascension strategies for communicationsystem of the IEC61850based substation, which are shown as follows:First, the analysis of the characteristics of IEC61850based substationcommunication networks, such as: intelligent electronic device (IED) andelectronic transformers replacing the traditional equipment, network dataexchange VS traditional substation data exchange, digital signals replacing theanalog signals and equipment using standardized modeling and unifieddescription of methods, as well as the needs of the development direction ofnetwork research, including equipment selection, topology planning, trafficanalysis, and so the delay.Second, the analysis of the OPNET software technology adaptation in IEC 61850based substation networking technology is studied, and based on OPNETthe substation process bus network is modeled and simulated, then Yucibeisubstation process layer as a case for the simulation analysis of the network. Atthe same time, OPNET is also used to study the TRILL (TransparentInterconnection of Lots of Links) technology in the IEC61850based substationcommunication network. A network experimental has shown that TRILL hasadvantages in topology discovery and packet multipath transmission of IEC61850based substation process bus network. TRILL network convergencetechnology has a strong adaptability.Third, this paper proposes protective relay reliability based method toanalyze the IEC61850based substation communication network reliability. Italso describes and analyzes the impact of technical features of the IEC61850based substation on its network reliability. Finally, this paper takes the busdifferential protection of Yucibei substation communications network as anexample and the proposed method for reliability analysis are studied.Finally, we take one of the important part of IEC61850based substationconstruction period, the commissioning, and take the Yucibei substationengineering as background to give the recommendations for centralizedcommissioning preparations, SCD file configuration checks, smart IEDequipment and system interconnect test and performance test. And focusing onYucibei substation network testing, we present the testing strategies for back toback frames testing, frame loss rate testing, delay testing, functional testing andGOOSE transmission testing, which is very important to enhance the IEC61850based substation communication network reliability.Throughout this paper, it starts from three aspects: IEC61850networkingresearch, reliability analysis and reliability-based promotion and conducts meansa lot of research and analysis, the findings of the reliable and efficient operationof aspects of IEC61850substation has great reference value and practical significance.
