Greenway system plays an important role in the construction of the development of a small town, it is about conservation and utilization of ecological resources, and about humanities resources mining and inheritance, besides, it plays a very important function in the traffic and ecological communication as a channel between different regions. The purpose of this paper is to explore the importance and the planning and design method of the greenway system in characteristic small towns construction, through researching the green system planning and design of HuaMingLou town.Starting from the research background of the greenway system, this paper expounds the developing course of the greenway, introduces the greenway construction and practice and the research progress both at home and abroad. Through carefully analysis and summarizing domestic and international advanced experience and the existing research results, and refering to the relevant standards, rules and guidelines,this paper introduces the concept of greenway system, composition, classification and function,and summarizes the content of the green system planning and design points. At the same time, it takes HuaMingLou town of Ningxiang county as the object of field research, sums up its existing basic conditions and the existing problems,and completes its green system planning and design study,combining with the theoretical research, in "the HuaMingLou town overall planning" and so on under the guidance of master planning.Through the green system planning and design of HuaMingLou Zhen on two aspects of domain and township, it completes the town domain within the scope of ecological resources, humanities landscape, ecology, the establishment of the traffic corridor; achieves in the construction of ecological civilization, convenient urban and rural residents living, builds HuaMingLou red tourism characteristic landscape, carrys forward the hometown of liu shaoqi red culture, promotes the local tourism economy; Besides,it reflects the ecological, social, cultural and economic benefits of greenway system construction in a small town development and construction.
