Urban rail transit plays an increasingly important backbone role in the urban passenger transport under the tendency of public transport priority. Currently to create a scientific and effective rail transit system, provide user-friendly travelling environment, station design and passenger flow organization are taken more seriously. Under this background this paper studies the spatial distribution regularities of waiting passengers on the platform.First, paper analyzes the characteristics of platform and passenger which influence spatial distribution of waiting passengers on platform. By introducing the calculation method of platform containing capacity and the partition standard of service level of waiting zone, paper confirms the criterion for calculating the containing capacity of waiting zone. Then paper describes the behavior characteristics of single passenger, group passengers and transfer passengers. Platform passengers are classifies into three types:boarding passengers, alighting passengers, waiting passengers. With the help of survey data, paper explores the characteristics of speed and density about platform passengers. These contents provide the foundation for studying spatial distribution regularities of waiting passengers on platform. Then, paper describes the behavior determining mechanism of waiting passengers and depicts their distribution process. By analyzing survey data we study the waiting distribution regularities of common passengers and transfer passengers. And through factor analysis, it shows that distribution quantity has positive correlation with passenger volume from entrance, and it has negative correlation with the distance to entrance. At last, paper establishes a spatial distribution model of waiting passengers based on the concept of waiting field which takes a consideration of passenger volume from entrance, distance, burden condition, etc. It builds an attraction function by referring to the form of electric field force, and allocates waiting passengers by the method of secondary allocation. Then, the model calibrates parameters by using the advance and retreat method of one-dimensional search problem. Paper’s model can simulate spatial distribution of waiting passengers with small error in practical application.
