With the development of urban public transit system, interchange stations and passenger flow at interchange stations are growing rapidly, therefore the connection at interchange stations has become an important topic in the study of urban public transit system. However, recent research on level of service (LOS) of public transit is mainly focused on the determination of LOS of the facilities themselves, while seldom considers the feeling of passengers. Consequently, with the introduction of perception of time and space, the properties and LOS of transfer system are studied, based on the passengers’ perception of transfer time and transfer distance.First, using cube theory, we analyze the influence of metro transfer system, transfer passengers and transfer states on the time-space perception of the transfer system. Also, subject to field survey, we choose relevant variable to determine the attribution model of metro transfer system, considering properties of transfer system.Second, based on the perception property of transfer passenger, we improve the "experience-perception" method by supplementing survey pattern, survey content and questionnaire design of time-space perception of transfer, and propose a survey method of performance of metro transfer system based on time-space perception.Third, we analyze factors affecting the time-space perception of metro transfer system, based on the attribution analysis and survey data. We chose two stations with similar horizontal distances:Fuxingmen Station, the interchange station of Line1and Line2; and the Pinganli Station, the interchange station of Line4and Line6. We compare the LOS of transfer routes in the two stations based on the time-space perception, and come up with two transfer routes satisfying passengers’requirement of time and distance, and meeting relevant standard. Significance analysis of two abovementioned transfer routes is performed using T-test and F-test. It is demonstrated that the factors influencing time perception is trip purpose, degree of crowdedness, degree of urgency, and that the factor impacting distance perception is degree of crowdedness. Also, it is shown that time-space perception is not significantly related to properties of passengers. Then, Turkey-Test and Dunnett’s T3-Test are applied for analysis of the abovementioned influencing factors, and Speaman are used to obtain the coefficient of influencing factors. At last, LOS of the whole system considering time-space perception is determined using statistics and psychometrics. The relationship between passenger preference and distribution of time-space perception is analyzed. Then two curves are obtained, one depicting the relationship between perceived time and time assessment, the other depicting the relationship between perceived distance and distance assessment. Meanwhile, threshold of the proposed LOS is calculated, and compared with related reference.
