With the rapid development of the aviation industry, the government pays more and more attention to the civil aviation safety. Aviation lead-acid battery, as backup power source, is a key component of an aircraft. It is mainly used for starting of aircraft engines, communication, lighting and emergency. Therefore, aviation lead-acid batteries play an important role in aircraft flight safety. In order to ensure the performance of the batteries meets airworthiness requirements, we need to assess the health of the batteries. We conducted a research on each charging stations of branches of Civil Aviation Flight University of China. Through the research, we found that issues related to health assessment and daily management of aviation lead-acid batteries are particularly acute. In response to these problems, the following work has been done:(1) The domestic and international research progress and development trend of aviation lead-acid battery health assessment are be described.(2) Based on the review of domestic and foreign literature, research reports, and patents, we analyzed factors affecting the health of aviation lead-acid batteries and defects of the current health assessment method.(3) We proposed an improved method for aviation lead-acid batteries health assessment on the basis of analyzing factors affecting the health of aviation lead-acid batteries and defects of the current health assessment method. To measure the effectiveness of the proposed model, data sets were acquired from Civil Aviation Flight University of China.(4) According to production needs, we designed a management system software, which can perform the following functions:recording the activation parameters, registering of charging check from the charging stations, registering of field recipients, recording capacity test, display of dynamic table of batteries which are in the charging stations.
