As an important part of engineering machinery, tower crane plays a significant role inbuilding operations. Interiorly, point-type tower crane, flat-top tower crane and boom-type towercrane are three main kinds of tower crane, of which, the most basic and wide application in themarket is the point-type tower crane.In the course of the design of the ower crane, the mechanical analysis, which insures thereliability of the product and the validity of the design, is very essential and crucial.And thecredible quality of the product is the key to success if an enterprise want to capture more share inthe market. Therefore, the structure analysis is especially important for a new product.The traditonal analysis costing plenty of time to hand calculation or build finite elementmodel little by little in general, which is a heavy workload but far from conprehensive. In thedaily work, designer usually can not study the FEM sofeware deeply facing with the workpressure. And it is a fact that limitations of the designer’s ability, professional knowledage andanalyzing experiences make the trustful results difficult to achieve. So how to improve thereliablity, high efficiency and the comprehensiveness in the product development process is verysignificant for an interprise.Based on the real project,this paper shows how to develop an analysis system which isstrive to solve the problem mentioned above for the point-type tower crane. And we will reachthe results that not only can the finite element model for computation in the analysis system builtautomatically, but also can the results extracted and checked as needed.This paper take the point-type tower crane as research objects, discussd the developmentprocess of parametric finite element analysis system. The first chapters of the paper introducedthe development of the tower crane, as well as the relevant concepts and methods of analysisinvolved briefly. The sceond chapter showed the parametric modeling process of analysis system,including the simplify method of the structures in the mechanic aspects, and how to utilize the APDL language of ANSYS to build the parametric model. Emphasizing the consideration of allkinds of load. the third chapter compared the load part of two industrial design manuals andlisted the calculate process of typical load. The fourth chapter discussed the process of systemimplementation, and illustrated in three aspects in detial. In addition. The fifth chaper showed therelabilty of the analysis system in two ways. By the end of the paper, it drew conclusions andoutlook about the analysis, made a summary on the current research, as well as the research havenot involved in the paper, which is main content of the next research on calculation and thedevelopment of the analysis system.
