Mechanical Vibration is an inevitable phenomenon in our production activities and daily life. It is undeniable that it has positive side to us, such as some massage and fitness equipment, which use vibration to ease our physical and mental fatigue. But in most cases, we do not want to see the mechanical vibration phenomenon:it will reduce vehicle ride comfort, cut down service life of some high precision instruments, even the houses in earthquake also collapsed because of excessive vibration. In order to minimize the harmful effects of mechanical vibration, the current mainstream approach is to reduce the transfer of harmful vibrations by vibration isolation mounting. Spring shock absorber and rubber shock absorber are common shock absorbers. Since these vibration isolators belong to passive isolator, and a fixed stiffness rubber isolator usually gets good damping effect only used within a narrow frequency range, if the external excitation frequency range changes, the vibration isolation performance of rubber isolator will be greatly reduced, even resonance occurs. There is a new-type smart material---magnetorheological elastomer(MRE), its stiffness and damping can change with external magnetic field, and it inherits the controllable, reversible and fast response characteristics of MRF, but also has characteristics of good stability, wear-resisting and not easy settling. It can be widely used in high-tech isolation fields.This paper combined domestic and international experts and scholars’research findings on magnetorheological elastomer preparation, selected natural rubber material which has good mechanical properties as basic matrix, butadiene rubber as auxiliary matrix, chose domestically made carbonyl iron powder as ferromagnetic particle and added appropriate additives, successfully made a magnetorheological elastomer with good mechanical properties and significant magnetic effect.According to magnetorheological elastomer controllable stiffness and damping characteristics, we designed a new type of MRE vibration isolator under extrusion operation mode. Mainly built a magnetorheological elastomer stiffness model on the basic of MRE vibration isolator working principle, structure design and operation mode; computed turns per coil of MRE applying a magnetic field according to design requirements; designed MRE vibration isolator structure with3D drawing software CATIA, after manufactured in factory, we assembled a new type of MRE vibration isolator.Design experiment to test relationship between MRE vibration isolator structure and current changes. Based on stiffness tester and relevant test equipment, build a test platform to test MRE vibration isolator stiffness performance. After processed by computer, we obtained a force and displacement curve of suspension part under different current excitation, then we get stiffness under different currents, which provide a reference for designing suspension controller in later work.Design experiment to test relationship between MRE vibration isolator system natural frequency and current changes. Based on vibration table and relevant test equipment, build a test platform to test MRE vibration isolator performance. We get the relationship between MRE vibration isolator and external current changes through a certain data processing, in order to evaluate vibration isolation performance and provide a basis for designing active suspension controller.
