In modern metropolis,the central activity zone(CAZ) has become the most important core functional and strategic areas. For the theory and practice of foreign central activity zone has been some progress,while the domestic research is also in the ascendant,it still lacks of systematic research and practice in the planning and design concepts of CAZ.Currently,the development of domestic cities feel the limitations of the traditional CBD,objectively the requirement of such diverse economy like CAZ.Based on the above background. this paper studies from diverse economic development of modern metropolis,it discusses the impact of urban functions and space,which leads to the concept of CAZ.
