Along with the development of technology, people pay more attention on energy and environmental protection, Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) is more and more applied in modern car manufacturing. Traditional CVT is not widely applied because of its low efficiency and high fault rate by using hydraulic system. Electronic Mechanical Continuously Variable Transmission (EMCVT) is researched in this paper. Its control system is used to controlling the motor of speed control and the motor of clutch control to control clamping force and transmission speed ratio.The developing and debugging process of control system of EMCVT is doing the bench test and cat test in order. But the bench test and car test need long testing cycles, lots of equipments, big size, inconvenient to move, high costing, and lack of safety in some extreme conditions. Therefore, in this paper making use of the technology of the hardware-in-the-loop simulation (HILS) to simulating the test platform, setting up the portable hardware-in-the-loop simulation test platform (HILSP) which is providing a virtual debugging environment for the preliminary stage of EMCVT control system developing, and shortening the development cycle, and reducing development costs.Firstly the EMCVT, field tests platform, and control system of EMCVT is detailed analyzed, and then engine model, clutch model, EMCVT model are established according to the engin’s mechanical structure and test data and mechanical structure of test platform, and also those models is simulated based on LabVIEW. Secondly, the data acquisition module is developed and the software system of hardware in the loop simulation platform is written based on LabVIEW. Which real-time communication between simulation model and control system, debugging function to EMCVT control system are achieved. And providing a environment for completing the virtual test bed experiment in the lab.Eventually, a portable HITLS platform for EMCVT control system has been set up in this paper. As a virtual test-bed, it can complete the preliminary inspection and debugging for the EMCVT control system, and also realize the off-field testing development of EMCVT control system.
