Hami region is rich in mineral resources. In recent years, with the development and utilization of someadvantageous resources, the region has produced some economic benefits. The water resource in Hami isscarce and uneven on the temporal and spatial distribution, which greatly limits the rational developmentand utilization of local water resources and the industrial development. With the region’s economic andsocial development in Hami, water supply and demand situation will change dramatically. On regionalwater resources rational understanding will help to supply and demand analysis, the optimal allocation ofwater resources, water conservancy construction, etc. And if we want to know exactly how much of aregional water resources, we need to adopt a reasonable approach to carry out water resources assessmentstudies.. Therefore, this thesis contributes to better ascertaining the amount of water resources in Hami,Which can guide Hami region’s economic and social sustainable development better, promote thedevelopment of new-type industrialization to achieve the sustainable use of water resources. it also hasimportant guiding effect to the harmonious development of economy, society, ecology and other aspects.Based on the summarizing and analyzing of the existing research data and achievement, this paper usesadvanced technical means, adopts the method of combining qualitative analysis with quantitativecalculation, and combine the actual situation of the study area, to evaluate the surface water resources inBarkul and Yiwu basin. The main results are as follows:(1)The study area’s precipitation and the surface water resources is uneven distribution during the yearand annual variation. The average precipitation is4.255billion m3.When the frequency is P=20%, P=50%,P=75%and P=95%, the annual precipitation is5.103billion m3,4.146billion m3,3.491billion m3and2.712billion m3.(2)The evaporation has big variations, the lowest valueis700~800in the high mountains, and thehighest value in the bottom of the basin is greater than2000mm.(3)The total surface water resources is493million m3. When the frequency is P=20%, P=50%, P=75%and P=95%, surface water resources is585million m3,484million m3,413million m3and332million m3. The surface water resources are in the southern mountainous area.(4)The river’s mineralization degree and total hardness change in the study area showed obviousgeographical characteristic. In this Basin, the river water quality present a good situation. According to the《environmental quality standards for surface water》(GB3838-2002), most parts of the riverwater qualityconforms to the II water quality standard, which can serve as a source of drinking water, irrigation water, general industrial water sources.
