Development And Application Of Parametric Design System For The Crawler Mounted Crane Jib

As the key part of the crawler mounted crane, jib’s mechanical performance directly relates to crawler mounted crane’s normal running. At present, the technology of finite element analysis has been widely used for jib’s design. Building the3-D model of the jib using traditional methods is time-consuming, laborious and inefficient because of its complex structure and the combination of its different lengths. Jibs are all space truss structures, which have similar topological structures, but a few characteristic difference. So they are very suitable for parametric design.A parametric design system for the crawler mounted crane jib has been set up in this thesis, which adopts SolidWorks, ANSYS and Visual Basic as tool. After received design parameters from the man-machine interactive interface, the system will call ANSYS software to complete jib’s strength and rigidity calculating. Subsequently, SolidWorks software will be drived to complete jib’s3D modeling, smart assembly and2D drawing’s automatic generation. The2D drawing that matchs GB and QB, can be used for actual production.At the end of this thesis, the jib of YTQU160A hydraulic crawler crane is taken as an example to test the performance of the parametric design system. Test result shows that the parametric design system runs smoothly, generates modeling rapidly, and reaches the design objective expected.The development and application of the parametric design system would shorten the develop cycle, improve design quality, brought down the develop cost. So the parametric design system has great utility value. The application of the CAE software such as ANSYS can guarantee jib’s mechanical performance. So it is satisfy the development of modern design technology.
