Electrostatic purification technology has been widely used in various industrial particles purification. In recent years, this technology is also applied to purify the micro-particles produced by cooking oil. Compared with the wire-plate electrostatic purifier, the electric field intensity in the barbed plate-plate electrostatic purifier is more powerful, the distribution of the current density is more uniform, the ionic wind is stronger and so on, therefore it has attracted more and more scholars’attention, but how to improve the purification efficiency of micro-particles is difficult. The electrostatic purifier used in the kitchen is demanded that the efficiency of the purifier should be high, the cost should be low and the volume should be small, the effect of electric field, structure and flow parameters on purification efficiency is researched in the paper, then the device used to purify the cooking oil is gotten.Firstly, the characteristics of cooking oil and the factors which effect on the purification efficiency are introduced in details; the CFD theory is also briefly introduced. The Poisson equation is selected to simulate the electric field, standard k-ε turbulence model, the finite volume method and SIMPLE algorithm are select to simulate the flow field and then the numerical simulation method is developed.Secondly, based on the numerical simulation method, the effect of flow and electricity parameter on the ionic wind and the coherent action between ionic wind and main fluid are separately computed and analyzed. The secondary flow sourced from ionic wind is appeared and when the entrance velocity is low or the voltage is high, the large scale of secondary flow is more evident. The effect of flow and electricity parameter on purification efficiency is also computed and analyzed.At last, the effect of distance between the tip of the barbs and the ground plate on the value and distribution of current density by the space is researched by this numerical simulation, the results show that the distance is small, the value of the current density is higher, it is suitable for particles charged, but the distribution of the current density is less uniform, on the contrary, the distance is large, the distribution of the current density is more uniform and it is suitable for particle collection. The effect of different flow and electric parameters on the purification efficiency are studied by use of the DPM model, the results show that the optimal distance between the tip of barbs and the ground plate is from50mm to75mm under the common range of flow parameters and electric parameters.
