As a liquid delivery machine, pump is widely used in many fields of industries. In China, pump unit power consumption accounts for a great percent of the national electricity consumption. Faced with the increasingly grim energy situation, the research and promotion of various energy-saving measures is imperative while accelerating the development of new energy. Therefore, to develop a pump system which can be driven by low grade waste heat and to design a pump unit with excellent delivery performance become worldly focused. This thesis reviews the brief history of pump industry and advances on current pump energy-saving technologies, and proposes a new type of liquid delivery pump driven by low grade waste heat. The experimental prototype of the pump is developed, and the test setup is designed and built. The numerical simulation research and the experimental measurement on the working performance of the liquid delivery pump have been carried out, laying a preliminary foundation for the detailed design research and the development of this new type of liquid delivery pump. The main contents and conclusions are presented as follows:1.An analysis is conducted on the process of the liquid filling on the low pressure side and the liquid landing on the high pressure side when this pump works. The effects of rotation speed, high side pressure, low side pressure, rotor, channel numbers and channel radius on the mass flow rate, shaft power, coefficient of pumping performance, pump efficiency come to a conclusion that this liquid delivery pump transmit a fixed mass of fluid under the same work condition consume far less power than traditional liquid delivery pump.2.With water as the working fluid, an experimental research is made by pumping high pressure nitrogen to simulate the high side pressure. Effects of rotation speed, high side pressure and the channel numbers on the mass flow rate, pumping power and coefficient of pumping performance have been studied. The experimental results showed that:the working fluid delivered in the pump is usually in a gas-liquid mixture state; while the high side pressure is high, the mass flow rate decreases when the rotation rate increases; the pumping power and the coefficient of pumping performance increases with the high side pressure going up.3.These conclusions are consistent with the theoretical analysis. The effect of high side pressure on the mass flow rate has also been explained.
