Combining the latest research methods in the field of inter-city railway, drawing existing theory, select a current significant angle to research, that is:the research on the impact of opening intercity railway on passengers’travel mode choices.Firstly, the thesis introduces the concept and status of intercity railway, propose the research emphasis and significance, analysis the background of intercity railway, and the economic benefits after using it combining with China’s condition.Secondly, the research analysis the micro and macro factors that affect passenger travel mode, and the factors which have effect on intercity passengers’choice of transportation mode. According to logit model, the research gives the calculating model of the intercity passengers’trip mode split behavior varies, and take Wu-Huang intercity rail for example, conducts the imitate calculation. The result makes clear that the proportion of the passengers choosing railway will increase obviously.In addition, the article gives a brief introduction to induced traffic. Choose Wu-Huang intercity rail as the model, and get result by using the gravity model.Finally, the article gives advices for other transportation modes, especially road transport which split rate decreased significantly under the influence of the intercity railway’s construction with our country current national conditions.
