Suspension system is the most important part of automobile, and the K&Ccharacteristics is the key to automobile chassis performance. In recent years, the suspensionK&C characteristics have been largely researched at home and abroad. However, thesestudies are mostly based on the steady-state response of vehicle, and there are less researchon the K&C characteristics in the transient response of the car. So we couldn’t fullyunderstand the performance of the suspension because of this. Based on above reasons, thispaper mainly talked about the research approach of the K&C characteristics in thetransient-state response of automobile. The main contents of this paper were carried out asfollows:1. Overview the suspension K&C characteristics and qualitative analysis. Thedefinition and evaluation parameters of K&C characteristics was introduced in this paperbased on the summary of the predecessors. Performance of K characteristics and Ccharacteristics on properties of vehicle was analyzed, then introduced the suspension K&Ccharacteristics test and simulation methods, which made necessary preparations to furtherstudy on the transient response of vehicle suspension K&C characteristic.2. The transient effect of suspension K&C characteristics was analyzed. ContributionRatio and Response Ratio, which could evaluate the effect of suspension K&Ccharacteristic in transient response, were put forward by analyzing the mechanism ofsuspension K characteristics and C characteristics. Then, made a detailed explanation onthe two index above-mentioned, and introduced how to use them to analyze the effect of Kand C characteristics. In addition, the relationship between Contribution Ratio andResponse Ratio in the transient response is discussed, which has a certain guidingsignificance to the study on K&C characteristics.3. The effect of suspension K&C characteristics under vehicle transient conditions wassimulated. First introduced the CarSim software, and its vehicle suspension system, steering system and other major subsystems in detail. Meanwhile introduced theestablished method of the virtual proving ground (VPG) based on CarSim. Then selectedthe steering angle step test and double lane change test to vehicle simulation, and analyzedthe simulation results which used the proposed Contribution Ratio and Response Ratio inorder to get the effect of K and C characteristics in transient response. It provided someguidance for the design of suspension K and C characteristics and the high efficiency ofchassis tuning.
