The sleeper bus is a product under the special national conditions of China, and is uniquefor China. The sleeper bus acts an important role in China’s road traffic. However, thesleeper bus is temporarily halt by the related department for several severity accidentshappened in recent years. The safety of the sleeper bus has been paid attention to by normalpeople, and how to improve the safety of the sleeper bus has become a popular researchtopic in today’s society. Some reference values may be provided by this article for the backof the sleeper bus.Based on the related theories of bus design, a safer new sleeper bus body structure schemeis put forward, namely the middle-bearing integral sleeper bus body structure scheme basedon the mountain shape integral structure, by combining the many research results on thestructure design and optimization of seated bus and the performance analysis andoptimization of bus rollover in recent years, according to the situation of the sleeper bus andsome bus design related regulations and papers. Then the element analysis and relatedimprovement research of the static and rollover safety performances for the body structurementioned above are carried out, and the main research contents are shown as below:Firstly, the project design of middle-bearing sleeper bus body structure is carried out.Analyze the safety problems and the reason resulted in them by researching on thecharacteristics of the original sleeper bus. Then the traditional sleeper bus is redesigned onthe aspects of structure and performance according to the related national standards. Forexample, the shapes of front, back and roof structures are designed based on the traditionalsleeper bus. And the shapes of side, frame and berth structures are redesigned all new. Thus asafer middle-bearing integral sleeper bus body structure scheme is obtained by proposed anall new integral structure and berth arrangement forms.Secondly, the body structure analysis and improvement research are carried out for themiddle-bearing sleeper bus. According to the structure project proposed by this article, thebus body structure beam element CAE model of the middle-bearing integral sleeper bus isbuilt, and the static performances are analyzed for it in the following steps. According to theanalysis results, the middle-bearing integral sleeper bus body structure is optimized andimproved by using structure optimization and section size optimization to guarantee theorder of each static performance indicates of the structure.Thirdly, the rollover safety analysis and optimization research are carried out for the middle-bearing sleeper bus. According to the characters of sleeper bus, the evaluationmethod of rollover safety of the middle-bearing integral sleeper bus is discussed referencingto the definition for the evaluation method of seat bus rollover safety in ECE R66regulation.Two evaluation methods are proposed by this article, and the objective evaluation methodbased on safety imagination is selected in the end combining the special structure of thesleeper bus of this article. Then the shell CAE model of the middle-bearing integral sleeperbus body structure based on the static performance optimization structure. The rolloversafety evaluation for the middle-bearing integral sleeper bus body structure is carried out byusing the evaluation method proposed by this article. According to the result of rolloversimulation, and the research experiences for bus rollover by the research group, the structureis optimized and improved in the following.Lastly, the verification of the static and rollover safety performances are carried out. Andthe sleeper bus body structure satisfied the static and rollover safety performance is obtainedin the end, namely the middle-bearing integral sleeper bus body structure.
