Improving the network structure and operation performance of normal bus transit do much favor for a higher system service level, helping transfer travelers to public transit and achieve a sustainable development. Taking the running time of bus network as the research object, we studied on network characteristics, discovered its spatial distribution supported by GIS, with bus AVL data.We integrated bus network and running time, referring to the existing research. Firstly, we structured bus stop complex network in space L according to complex network theory, also structured weighted network of inter-stop distance and running time. We researched on the network structure features of bus running time, as well as the effect of weights and its types, which are measured by six indices of node degree, weight distribution, clustering, shortest path, betwenness, closeness. Later, selecting bus network with41lines to CBD. We processed and analyzed four indices in GIS that it is average running time, relative variation rate of running time, coefficient of variation and its evolution, to discover the spatial distribution and time evolution of running time in bus network. Finally, after defining the bus stop accessibility index with running time, we discussed its spatial distribution. The result shows that Hangzhou bus network has scale-free and small world properties to some extent, edge weights affect significantly several indices of bus complex network. The distribution of average bus running time and its stability is not uniform in space, there are many differences in different traffic period as well. The stop accessibility with running time is affected by its location in bus network as well as geographical space, also restricted by the network structure around a stop. This research get an insight into the operation performance of public transit system at a network level, providing decision support and technical reference for the optimization design and operation management evaluation.
