Smart grid is developing rapidly in the whole world recent years. Thus, narrowband power line communication network will play a more important role in the intelligence of distribution network. This paper mainly researches on MAC layer technology of narrowband power line communication used in the intelligence of distribution network. Aiming at the problem of frequency selective in power line communication channel and the burstiness of traffic, this paper researches on the improved algorithm of MAC algorithm in narrowband power line communication network.Firstly this paper introduces channel characteristics of narrowband power line communication network. Compared with the wireless network, the path loss in the power line channel changes slowly with when the distance increases, while the frequency selectivity is much stronger than it. Then this paper researches the characteristics of the data traffic in the intelligence of distribution network. The data traffic triggered by event has the characteristics of strong burst and high QoS.Secondly, to solve the problem of the strong burst traffic with high QoS, in this paper, resource reservation based MAC algorithm has been proposed. Bandwidth allocation, admission control and the remaining bandwidth allocation of resource reservation based algorithm is proposed; with reserving a part of the bandwidth, through the reasonable distribution of excess bandwidth, finally makes up the deficiency of CSMA/CA in the burst traffic.Thirdly, to solve the problem of path loss with distance decay slowly and nodes conflict in wide geographic range in narrowband power line communication network, this paper researches a kind of adaptive frequency allocation algorithm based on channel measurement, which take advantage of frequency selective in power line channel and make a breakthrough of the original s ingle frequency network or pre-configured of frequency. This adaptive frequency allocation algorithm comprehensively considers the channel conditions, subnet size and The relay hop. Through the simulation platform build by the PLC channel characteristic, the delay in the process of resources reserve and adaptive algorithm, packet loss rate and other performance indicators are simulated and analyzed. The simulation results show that the resource reservation based MAC algorithm and adaptive frequency allocation algorithm can better support the strong burst traffic with high QoS produced in the intelligence of distribution network.
