It is great significance to ensure the stability of power system that improving thepower factor of power grid and safing the operation of pumped storage power station.The effect is very considerable especially in the synchronous motor when pumpingphase modulation no matter in exciting current adjustment or changing the systempower factor. However the parameters connected to the motor of once have changed,the time in the transition process is usually short, but it may cause seriousconsequences. In some situations, the transient process of the motor is almostdecided the main factors of the system with changing with time characteristics. Forinstance, the duration of the transition process, motor speed, the active power rate,the reactive power rate, damper current and electromagnetic force size, etc. So it isnecessary to calculate on the transient process of the motor and summarize itsoperation characteristics.First in this paper the development situation at home and abroad about pumpedstorage power station is introduced. And we have also used the energy-storage motorsynchronous motor related theory to do the analysis of steady state operation used asthe working condition of pumping phase modulation. It includes the mathematicalmodel of synchronous motor, looking from the viewpoint of magnetic synchronousmotor, impact on the synchronous motor by changing load and the excitation current.The expression of reactive power and electromagnetic power is also deduced whenthe motor is running in pumping phase modulation of the accumulator.According to the basic principle of running synchronous motor. In this paper a270MW power generation motor is taken as an example. and the motor transientmagnetic field model is established with FEM software called Ansoft.then theboundary conditions and mesh subdivision is also given. The first place is to calculate the rated load condition in simulation of motor. Putting the various ofelectrical parameters at disposal which is calculated by hand that compared with theexperimental data. And the accuracy of modeling is verified.Second, the steady state in phase modulation of pumped storage motor is alsocalculated and analyzed. Calculating the stator armature current, voltage,powerfactor angle, angle of power factor, power angle, active power, reactive power, powerfactor and the steady state waveform graph between them in keeping rated excitationcurrent by changing load torque and changing the excitation current state of constantload torque respectively. Analysis the harmonic content of the stator armature currentwaveform. The relationship between the various electrical parameters after changingload is revealed. The changing regulation of characteristics is also finded. Providingthe basis and help for the adjustment of the system power factor.At length, the data and characteristics of motor transition time is analyzed,active power changing rate, reactive power changing rate in maintaining constantload and changing the excitation current. magnetic field distribution and its changingregulations are analyzed by the transition of motor, also Calculate the damping barcurrent and electromagnetic force. It provides reference for the further study of thedamping winding notch and the inner wall of the key points in the force. when thetransition process.
